Posted on 16/02/202330/04/2023

Launched in 1949, the Renown was an iconic model in the history of Triumph. This saloon had a 2088 cc inline four-cylinder engine developing 68 hp and sourced from the Standard Vanguard. The gearbox was a three-speed manual. The body was assembled by Mulliners and consisted of panels mounted on a wooden structure. The wheelbase was 2.74 m.

Two years later, a limousine version was unveiled. The wheelbase was increased to 2.82 m while the mechanics remained unchanged.

In 1952, the Renown MkII was introduced. It inherited the long wheelbase of the limousine but was aesthetically revised with an enlarged rear window and door push buttons.

Production :

  • Renown: 6,501
  • Renown limousine: 191
  • Renown MkII: 2,609

The car was sold to a French owner – this is a photo taken not long after they acquired it…
